Tom Balestar has hand-shaped over 25,000 surfboards in his 37 year career. His resume includes shaping for Country Surfboards (David Nuuhiwa), Rockin’ Fig, Chuck Dent, Dewey Weber, Force 9, the Greek, Robert August, Infinity, Wind N’ Sea, Brian Bulkley, Hurley, and Aloha Australia, in addition to his own label.
Tom has also been involved in designing and shaping ocean racing paddleboards ranging from 12′ to 18′ for Ohana Paddleboards, as well as his own label.
Tom’s creative direction is innovation in both new shapes as well as experimenting with alternative materials such as bamboo, cork and wood.
His professional efforts also extend into the development of different foams and glassing compounds in place of resin.
Tom has perfected his craft and his shaping skills, and has enjoyed and lived the surfing lifestyle on a daily basis for many years. He looks forward to shaping your next magic board.
